SENCO – Maternity Cover
Start Date: January 2027
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated SENCO to provide maternity cover from January 2027. The successful candidate will lead on supporting pupils with SEND across the secondary school, working closely with staff, families and external professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate support for pupils with SEND across the school.
- Oversee the identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with additional needs.
- Manage EHCPs and ensure statutory requirements and deadlines are met.
- Advise and support teaching staff in meeting the needs of pupils with SEND.
- Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the effectiveness of individual support.
- Maintain accurate SEND records and documentation.
- Ensure the school fulfils its statutory responsibilities relating to SEND.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- NPQ for SENCOs or NASENCO qualification.
- Proven experience working as a SENCO in a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCPs and SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with pupils, staff, families and external professionals.
- A strong commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
